Jon Groom : Reference paintings 1999

22 April - 20 May 1999

On April 22nd Lorenzelli Arte will be opening an exhibition dedicated to Jon Groom. The 20 works, all from 1999, were made especially for this space.

Relationships, references, rapports. Everything starts from the search for what runs between rule and feeling. One seeks or one finds, it is not transcendental, the parallel with simplicity, the fullness of the colour of Byzantine Art, the spiritual search itself through consolidated rites and through mystical meditation. A propensity towards research within the fundamental principles of art towards the re-elaboration of canonical paths, leads him to exclude the use of forms which are not square or rectangular, as in the origins of iconic paintings “….when artists had strictly obligatory books on colouring as models in order to leave room for the spiritual, for connecting Painting to the painting”.
