In collaboration with Julius Bissier Archive, Ascona (Switzerland)
Catalogue with text by Petra Joos

Lorenzelli Artegallery is pleased to announce the opening of the fall 2007/08 exhibition.
It is an important show dedicated to Julius Bissier, the great master of the European lyrical abstract art of the XX century..

This exhibition presents some beautiful works dated from 1947 to 1965, many of which are from theJulius Bissier Archive in Ascona(Switzerland). The presentation is written by Petra Joos, the Associated Curator of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. All the works exhibited in this show are published in colour in the catalogue.

The clear aim of the exhibition is to show the artistic development of Julius Bissier's path.
Exhibited are significant works that mark the fundamental stages of his expressivity: monotypes by pen, celebrated Indian Ink drawings, watercolours, and a vast selection of oil and egg temperas on canvas.

The exhibition can be read as a portrait of almost twenty-years of his artistic career, so rich of experimentation and approach to pure form. This is the second important show dedicated to Bissier, while his first one-man exhibition had been held in 1960 at the Galleria Lorenzelli in Bergamo .
