Nunzio, In clamorosa quiete (Nunzio, In Resounding Silence), a major retrospective
exhibition curated by Luca Massimo Barbero and Matteo Lorenzelli, features over 40
works from the early 1980s to the last decade of the 2000s, covering the entire creative
output of Nunzio (Cagnano Amiterno, 1954). An excursus that collects and investigates the
artist's formal and intellectual variations in their rich evolution.
The exhibition will be hosted in the two main rooms of Lorenzelli Arte (Corso Buenos Aires
2, Milan, 20124) starting March 21, 2026.
An extensive essay by Luca Massimo Barbero will accompany the dedicated catalog, a
trilingual volume (italian, english, chinese) published on the occasion of the exhibition's opening with more than 45 color
plates and approximately 250 pages.
“[…] One approaches the work not for reconstruction, but for adherence; and it happens,
with rare frequency, that the material itself seems to deny the temptation of explanation.
He says so himself with disarming simplicity, claiming an ‘anti-sculpture, something that
has to do with space, but which is not exactly a sculpture and is not exactly a painting’.
