Maurice Wyckaert was born on November 15, 1923, in Brussels. 
Between 1956 and 1957 he joined “L'Internationale Situationniste”. He went to Venice where he set up his studio in Piazza San Maurizio. The paintings of this period are shown at the Galleria del Cavallino with an introduction by Luc de Heusch. He took part in the Biennale of Sâo Paulo where he received an honourable mention. 
He made a lithograph and printed two copies in the studio, Clot-Bremsen and Georges. At the vernissage of his personal exhibit at the Ariel Gallery in Pari M.W and then met Bruno Lorenzelli. 
He represented Belgium at the Sâo Paulo Biennial Exhibit. He received the Jules Raeymackers prize of the Belgium Royal Academy. 
He died in July 1996.
