We are pleased to present "Rewind and Start Again!", an exhibition dedicated to the artist Ronnie Cutrone, which will be held in conjunction with the Milano Art Week.
The gallery will feature a preview of the upcoming retrospective "What a... krazy life" dedicated to the American artist, scheduled for May 2024 at the Maschio Angioino in Naples.
Ronnie Cutrone (New York, 1948 - Lake Peekskill, 2013) belongs to the first generation of American artists whose visual education was shaped by television, Hollywood myths, coloring books, rock'n'roll, and thus the culture of mass media. These visual influences became the cornerstone of his work: his canvases depict, since the 1980s, characters from cartoons, American flags, and snippets of advertising. These icons constitute the basis of his pictorial language: even in later works of the 2000s, there is a constant reference to superheroes and cartoons, accompanied, however, by the dramatic memory of the 2001 Twin Towers attack.
The Art Week will be an opportunity to delve into the artistic production of this latter period, thanks to a carefully curated selection: a taste of the exhibition path of the retrospective at the Maschio Angioino in Naples, which will retrace the entire career of Ronnie Cutrone.
