Wolves coming is an art installation that as all Liu Ruowang work has profound roots in Chinese traditional culture both in its lexicon and in its way of delivering thoughts. This installation was already shown in Italy twice but never in an holistic vision as it was conceived. The first time in 2015, on the occasion of Venice Biennale it was hosted by San Marino’s pavillion. Here the pack of wolves was “attacking” a reproduction of Michelangelo’s Pietà setting a clear statement against indifference towards art and culture. The second time, from october to december of the same year the pack of wolves was shown at the University of Torino. Here the wolves were lunging at a stack of books topped by a copy of “Critique of Pure Reason” by Immanuel Kant. The installation in Napoli will have a different and at the same time equal meaning by setting it in the middle of the urban fabric and cultural life of the city in Piazza del Municipio. Here the wolves will be deployed against the statue of a soldier.
